What is a Pub Franchise resale?
A Pub Franchise resale opportunity arises when one of our existing franchisees opts to sell their business. This could happen for a number of reasons, including retirement, relocation or for personal reasons.
Why should you consider a Pub Franchise resale opportunity?
A Pub Franchise resale business is ready to go from day one. Not only will the business already be trading and have an established customer base and a trained team in place, but the existing franchisee will also have implemented their business plan and have seen it work successfully. For the new franchisee, this will mean that they have a strong foundation to build from, and you will have the security of knowing that you are taking on a business which has operated successfully as a franchise.
What does the Pub Franchise resale recruitment process look like?
Once you have completed the online application form, a member of our Franchise recruitment team will contact you to confirm that your application details will be passed to the existing franchisee of the site you are interested in. They will be in touch with you to discuss the opportunity in more detail and they will assess your suitability. If both parties wish to progress with the resale, the Franchise recruitment team will contact you to invite you to a Discovery Day. Marston’s as the franchisor will also need to agree that you are suitable to join our franchise network. You will be required as part of this process to complete a business plan and attend interviews with members of our Operations team.
Can I consider resale opportunities as well as looking at new Pub Franchise sites?
Absolutely. You can search our new Franchise opportunities here, or to speak to a member of our Franchise recruitment team then please call 01902 329713.
Current Resale Opportunities
Hear from Tony & Jeanette Witterick, who took on a Franchise resale business in April 2016...
After successful careers in retail Tony and Jeanette had retired and moved abroad to Spain. But it wasn’t long before they started to get itchy feet.
Having a keen interest in food, they explored the option of setting up their own bistro or restaurant, and in preparation, Tony worked as a chef for a year at the same time as achieving his qualifications. The pub industry wasn’t one they’d initially considered, but they heard about Marston’s and the franchise offer, and the idea of taking on an existing business really appealed to them.
Tony explained, “That October, we attended a Discovery Day, and got a really good feel for Marston’s. It seemed like a company which was proud of its heritage and had retained the family feel, but was also one which wasn’t afraid to innovate and try new things.”
“The Old Hall in Timperley became available shortly after. The location made it ideal for us, as we wanted to be close to our family. It’s a beautiful pub, in a lovely rural area. It was important for us to be somewhere which offered us a great lifestyle as well as the right business opportunity.”
Since taking on the Old Hall the couple have focused on putting the pub at the heart of the community. “We always think of the experience we’d want to receive as customers, and make sure that the Old Hall offers just that”, explained Tony. “Our customers want a true community pub atmosphere, and it’s important to them that we’re visible in the business too.”
“It’s been a lot of hard work since we started here. We’ve given it our all, but we’re seeing the results. Customers who haven’t used the pub for a while are coming back, and we’ve made it much more family friendly. We’ve done lots of events which have gone down well, and raised money for charity too.”
