Supervisors are senior team members with responsibility for deputising for the General Manager for up to a period of 48 hours.

As part of the management team, they make sure that the business runs smoothly and that customers are receiving the best service. It’s a varied role supporting with back off systems, cash management, compliance, team recruitment, induction and training and much more!

Our Keyholder programme will support you with the transition from Supervisor to Assistant Manager, through a combination of self-learning and on-site training and courses.

When fully trained as an Assistant Manager you’ll be able to complete internal and external reliefs. You'll complete three courses which include managing finance, beat the auditor and managing your team. This will increase your understanding of operational issues at management level, financial knowledge, the audit process and your team management skills. It will also build on your kitchen skills and give your more in-depth knowledge of licensing law and food hygiene.

After you've completed this level, you'll be eligible to apply for our Management Development Programme.

Our exclusive Management Development programme is the final stage of development for teammates who want to one day become a General Manager. It’s designed to equip our Deputies with the skills and experience they need to manage their own business. It really works – 89% of those who’ve completed this programme have been appointed into General Manager roles. The programme includes:

  • 3 separate weeks of residential training offering both management theory and practical application

Week 1 – Team and business focused: opstats, finance and leadership skills

Week 2 – Kitchen-based Hell’s Kitchen: menu planning, costings and market research

Week 3 – Planning to build a business

  • Project work
  • Completing two reliefs in pubs operating under different brands/formats
