Marston’s Telecoms (MTL) wishes to enter new markets in order to grow our business and to reduce our dependency on the Hospitality market.  This role identifies, engages, sells to and closes opportunities within existing and new markets.

The Job role:

Working with the Sales & Marketing SBU Manager, research & identify markets where MTL can be successful.  Identify key targets and build detailed plans & strategies to win profitable incremental business. Successfully execute the plans and cultivate strong business relationships within those prospects & customers and hunt for every opportunity to increase profitable sales revenues. Develop long term relationships with new businesses to build recurring and ongoing profitable sales.  Win profitable sales, achieve targets and promote MTL. 

Key responsibilities:

  • Consistently achieve monthly, quarterly and annual targets
  • Develop & execute detailed planning for each sector and each key opportunity
  • Achieve all objectives (MBO’s) in a timely manner
  • Provide accurate, detailed forecasts in a timely manner
  • Research and identify new business opportunities - including new markets (initially SME/SMB), growth areas, trends, customers, partnerships, products and services
  • Seek out & engage positively with the appropriate contact(s) in target organisations
  • Generate leads and cold call prospective customers
  • Carry out face to face meetings where possible (use Teams as necessary)
  • Provide high level presentations in order to promote the company and our services
  • Always seek to do business in the best way but keeping costs to a minimum
  • Identify & understand the needs of customers in the new market and respond effectively with a plan of how to meet these needs
  • Foster and develop strong, profitable relationships with new prospects & customers
  • Ensure that MTL teams are fully aware of the customer needs by completing the company required process(es) for each opportunity
  • Follow all processes pursuant to the role
  • Using the MTL Customer onboarding process; formally agree, mutually beneficial, profitable and achievable contracts with new customers
  • Ensure that records are kept at each stage of the sale and are in a format that is accessible by the Umbrella and Management team
  • Maintain & demonstrate a strong understanding of MTL’s products & services and be able to promote and sell them & MTL as a whole, so as to win business
  • Provide/procure suitable training to customers when required
  • Maintain industry knowledge / intelligence & use it to grow sales
  • Act competitively, within UK law, and within company rules, to build and protect sales revenues
  • Champion new customers throughout MTL, effectively and positively helping the company to understand any need to accommodate this new market with a business plan that outlines the need and the benefits/drawbacks
  • Devise, plan and discuss promotional strategy and activities with the Marketing Manager to get their agreement and their engagement to carry out the marketing on your behalf
  • Liaise with the finance team, Pre-sales, Product Management, provisioning/logistics & support departments as appropriate
  • Attend seminars, conferences and events where appropriate
  • Keep abreast of trends and changes in the business world
  • Identify and work with key partners who can help to build business rapidly, effectively and profitably
Ideal Applicant:
 
  • Min 3 years business development experience in a technology environment
  • Strong understanding of UK SME/SMB marketplace ideally with a hot contact database
  • Broad knowledge of the industry, products and services
  • Able to influence at all levels up to Board
  • Effective presentation skills
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Able to demonstrate key acquisition, account growth and large deals won
  • Must be able to work independently but with a strong team player ethic
  • Able to think & act strategically
  • Collaborative approach to all elements of the process
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Highly numerate
  • Must be target orientated, accurate, money motivated and have a competitive edge
  • Full, clean UK driving licence
