Regional Safety Advisor
We're looking for an experienced Regional Safety Advisor to join Marston's to provide expert support to operations on all safety related matters. Based in the East of England you will work alongside the other RSAs.
Reporting into the Director of Safety, this role will be providing accurate, clear & relevant expert advice & support to ensure that Marston’s conducts its operations in a safe & effective manner, within the framework of company policies, legislative requirements & industry best practice. Actively promoting a positive safety management culture within Marston’s and the ownership of safety by teams in all areas of the business operation.
Key Attributes & Responsibilities:
- Support to Area Operations Managers (AOMs), General Managers (GMs) & Pub Partners on an advisory basis on safety & related matters including food safety, health & safety, licensing & incident/crisis management.
- Support to AOMs, GMs & Pub Partners in liaison with enforcement authorities (principally Environmental Health Officers).
- Sharing of best practice & promoting positive safety management at Area & Regional meetings/days in trade with Area and Regional Managers.
- Support & coach any pub which receives an EHO Food Hygiene Rating of less than 5. The RSA will liaise with EHO, AOM, GM or Operator and other support teams until a satisfactory re-rating inspection has been achieved.
- Support & coach pubs that fail the safety audit to support & coach the pub team with the corrective action plan & determine if the pub presents an on-going risk to the business.
- Carrying out accident/incident investigations for high risk RIDDOR reportable incidents, liaising with enforcement officers & investigating insurance claims as directed by the Director of Safety.
- Carrying out investigations where multiple food poisoning allegations are received, liaising with enforcement officers as directed by the Head of Technical Services – Food & Drink.
- Ensuring that any unsafe act, condition, or situation which could compromise the business is immediately escalated to the Director of Safety.
The Ideal Candidate:
- Previous experience in multi-site catering / retail
- Previous experience of franchise style operations would be an advantage
- Commercial in outlook and understands the current business challenges within the industry.
- Ability to influence at all levels both informally and within more formal environments
- Ability to project a professional positive presence and an appropriate level of credibility
- Eager to undertake personal development i.e., knowledge of health & safety & food safety
- Flexibility to travel. Full driving license
- Enthusiastic with a solution focused attitude.
