Front of House (FOH) Openings Trainer – CapEx

At Marston’s, we’re passionate about creating brilliant pub experiences – and our learning teams play a vital role in making that happen. We’re now looking for an experienced Front of House Openings Trainer to support our Capital Investment (CapEx) programme, helping our pubs and teams shine from day one and beyond.

The Role
As an FOH Openings Trainer, you’ll design and deliver market‑leading training for General Managers, operators, senior teams and pub teams during and after major pub investments. Using a blended learning approach, you’ll deliver engaging, practical training across multiple channels, tailoring your approach to the needs of each pub and team.
You’ll work closely with cross‑functional stakeholders, regional CapEx coaches and the wider People team, acting as a trusted learning partner and role model for Marston’s values. A key part of the role is ensuring training drives real business impact – from guest experience and sales to compliance, safety and return on investment.
This is a field-based role with regular travel to CapEx sites.

What you’ll be responsible for

  • Delivering all stages of the CapEx investment training programme in an inclusive, engaging and tailored way.
  • Identifying learning needs at pub, team and individual level and providing additional support where required.
  • Owning L&D communications for assigned pubs, ensuring clear, timely updates to key stakeholders.
  • Evaluating the effectiveness of training using the Kirkpatrick Model (Level 3), sharing insights and recommendations.
  • Designing and continuously improving innovative training content aligned to business strategy and learning trends.
  • Providing ongoing coaching and support to CapEx sites for up to 13 weeks post‑opening.
  •  Acting as a positive ambassador for Marston’s values, behaviours and service standards at all times.

What we’re looking for
Essential experience and skills:

  • Senior-level operational hospitality experience with strong commercial awareness.
  • Proven ability to deliver outstanding guest experiences and support high operational standards.
  • Experience designing and delivering engaging training across multiple formats and channels.
  • A natural coach and mentor, confident influencing and supporting people at all levels.
  • Strong knowledge of pub operations and management systems (e.g. Rep, Collins, Power BI, LMS).
  • Confidence analysing data and using insight to shape learning solutions.
  •  Strong IT skills, including Microsoft platforms, and excellent organisational skills.

Desirable:

  •  A formal Hospitality / Learning & Development qualification (Level 3 or above), although this is not essential.

What you get from us: You’ll be joining an award-winning local pub company that puts people first, lives by people-led values, and offers real opportunities to advance your career – with genuine benefits that include:

  • Car Allowance
  • Employer funded Private Medical Insurance
  • Training and induction from our NITA award training team
  • Apprenticeship programmes – offering development at any stage of your career
  • Enhanced Maternity & Paternity leave
  • 30% off in Marston’s pubs and Marston’s Inns accommodation
  • Marston’s Cheers Reward & Recognition Platform (earn points to spend for living and breathing our values and behaviours and access high street retailer discounts)
  • Save as you earn scheme
  • Employee assistance programme, to support your well-being including confidential 24/7 helpline
  • Pension scheme with additional Life Assurance and Group Income Protection cover included
  • Health Screening Discounts
  • Long Service Awards
  • Buy and sell additional leave
  • Gym Discounts
  • 24-hour GP helpline
  • Mortgage Advice and support
  • Healthcare Cash Plan

Come as you are. Personality and passion is important to us. No judgement on where you’ve come from, or your story to date, just a need for the right attitude and an ambition that matches ours. We’ll accept you and celebrate you for being you.
