An opportunity has arisen to join Marston’s PLC Group Estates Team as a Regional Building Surveyor. This is a permanent, field based, full time position. Marston’s PLC is a listed company in the UK with assets in excess of £1.8bn. The main focus of the Building Surveyor is to deliver a professional Maintenance provision to our pub, hotel and bar portfolio.

This role will require extensive travel across the region with regular visits to the Wolverhampton head office.

Key Attributes & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the day to day management of reactive and compliance based repairs across all pub formats
  • Delivery of schedules of dilapidations and larger scale maintenance projects.
  • Delivery of our initial works programme within the region
  • Liaising with internal and external contacts to ensure great customer service is delivered at all times.
  • Ability to diagnose building issues and formulate proposals to resolve, whilst considering the impact on the operation of the site
  • Supporting our Maintenance Helpdesk to deliver a “best in class” reactive maintenance service
  • Advise regarding Statutory requirements, maintenance implications and other risks.
  • Managing and reporting of costs as required
  • Contract Management responsibilities including regular reviews, monitoring service standards, auditing completed work and dispute resolution
  • Develop a full understanding of repair liabilities & responsibilities within our Leased & Tenanted premises
  • Constantly strive to deliver better ways of working
  • Liaising with statutory bodies (i.e. Fire Officer, EHO, etc.) to ensure resolution of actions raised.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • A degree, HND or equivalent experience. Member of RICS, CIOB (desirable but not essential)
  • A strong team player with excellent communication skills
  • Strong record of financial control and budget management.
  • Sound experience in the licensed, leisure or retail sectors.
  • Possess excellent commercial awareness.
  • Able to communicate and influence effectively with a range of internal and external customers.
  • Enjoys working in a busy team environment or in isolation
  • Ability to travel throughout our estate.
  • Use of IT systems to record and monitor data and other management reporting systems
  • Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise your workload and work under own initiative.
