Front of House (FOH) Openings Trainer – CapEx
22-month Fixed-Term Contract | Field-Based

At Marston’s, we’re passionate about creating brilliant pub experiences, and our learning teams play a vital role in making that happen. We’re now looking for an experienced Front of House Openings Trainer to join us on a 22-month fixed-term contract, supporting our Capital Investment (CapEx) programme and helping our pubs and teams shine from day one and beyond.

The Role
As an FOH Openings Trainer, you’ll play a key role in getting our CapEx pubs ready for successful openings and relaunches.

You’ll design and deliver engaging, practical training for General Managers, operators, senior teams and pub teams, adapting your approach to suit the needs of each business. From service standards and operational excellence to systems and commercial performance, you’ll help teams build the confidence and capability they need to succeed.

You’ll work closely with operational teams, regional CapEx coaches and colleagues across the wider People team, becoming a trusted partner throughout the investment journey.

And your support won’t stop once the doors open. You’ll continue coaching our teams for up to 13 weeks post-opening, helping embed great standards and turn investment into sustainable business performance.

This is a field-based role with regular travel to CapEx sites.

What you’ll be responsible for

  •  Delivering all stages of the CapEx training programme in an engaging, inclusive and practical way.
  •  Identifying learning needs across individual pubs and teams, providing additional coaching and support where needed.
  • Owning L&D communications for your assigned pubs and keeping key stakeholders informed throughout the investment journey.
  • Evaluating the impact of training using the Kirkpatrick Model (Level 3) and turning your findings into meaningful recommendations.
  • Designing and continually improving training content in line with business priorities and emerging learning trends.
  • Providing ongoing coaching and support to CapEx sites for up to 13 weeks after opening.
  • Championing Marston’s values, behaviours, service standards and ways of working.
  • Helping teams translate their training into stronger guest experiences, sales, compliance, safety and return on investment.

What we’re looking for
We’re looking for someone who understands the realities of running a great hospitality business and knows how to bring the best out of people.

You’ll ideally have:

  • Senior-level operational hospitality experience with strong commercial awareness.
  • A track record of delivering brilliant guest experiences and high operational standards.
  • Experience designing and delivering engaging training across different formats and channels.
  • Strong coaching and mentoring skills, with the confidence to influence and support people at all levels.
  • A strong understanding of pub operations and management systems, such as Rep, Collins, Power BI and LMS platforms.
  • Confidence using data and insight to identify opportunities and shape learning solutions.
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft platforms, alongside excellent planning and organisational skills.
  • The flexibility to travel regularly and support pubs during key stages of their CapEx journey.

Desirable

  • A Hospitality or Learning & Development qualification at Level 3 or above would be an advantage, but it isn’t essential.

Why this role?

This isn’t simply about delivering training. You’ll have the opportunity to be part of some of our most exciting pub transformations, working directly with teams to build confidence, raise standards and make sure our investment delivers the best possible experience for our guests from the moment the doors open.

What you get from us: You’ll be joining an award-winning local pub company that puts people first, lives by people-led values, and offers real opportunities to advance your career – with genuine benefits that include:

  • Car Allowance
  • Employer funded Private Medical Insurance
  • Training and induction from our NITA award training team
  • Apprenticeship programmes – offering development at any stage of your career
  • Enhanced Maternity & Paternity leave

  • Save as you earn scheme
  • Employee assistance programme, to support your well-being including confidential 24/7 helpline
  • Pension scheme with additional Life Assurance and Group Income Protection cover included
  • Health Screening Discounts
  • Long Service Awards
  • Buy and sell additional leave
  • Gym Discounts

  • Mortgage Advice and support
  • Healthcare Cash Plan

Come as you are. Personality and passion is important to us. No judgement on where you’ve come from, or your story to date, just a need for the right attitude and an ambition that matches ours. We’ll accept you and celebrate you for being you.
