We’re looking for an experienced operator(s) to take on The Monkstone Inn, a well-established, community-focused pub in Rumney, East Cardiff. This is a fantastic opportunity for partners with strong food experience who are looking to build on an already solid food-led business while unlocking further growth in wet sales through events, entertainment and local engagement.
The Monkstone Inn is a value-led, family-friendly pub offering traditional pub classics alongside a broad drinks range including draught beers, cask ales, wines and cocktails. It provides a versatile and welcoming trading environment, with comfortable indoor dining and bar areas as well as a spacious beer garden that lends itself well to families, dog owners and the local community. Its position on Newport Road gives excellent visibility and benefits from both repeat local trade and passing customers.
The business currently takes around £20,000 per week, trading at approximately 65% wet sales and 35% food sales. There is already a strong food offer in place, providing a stable foundation from day one, but there is clear potential to drive further wet sales by bringing the pub to life through live music, themed events and regular activities. The outdoor space in particular offers great scope for family fun days and seasonal events that can help increase footfall and build momentum.
The pub sits within a predominantly residential suburban catchment, serving areas such as Rumney and St Mellons, and relies heavily on families, groups and regular drinkers who see it as their local.
